The problem

Most spatial data problems start before the GIS platform

Teams often invest in GIS platforms, dashboards, and monitoring tools — then discover the underlying data is inconsistent, incomplete, or structured in ways that break workflows. The readiness assessment finds those problems before they cost you more.

Inconsistent coordinate systems

Layers that won’t align, projections that vary by dataset, or undocumented CRS across a portfolio of shapefiles.

Missing or broken attribute schemas

Field names that changed over time, missing values, or attribute structures that can’t support the queries your team needs.

No defined data pipeline

Data moves from field teams to GIS to report via manual steps — no reproducible workflow, no audit trail, no version control.

Platform onboarding failures

Migrating to a new GIS platform or dashboard and discovering source data is not fit for purpose mid-project.

What you receive

A report you can act on, not just read

The assessment is delivered as a structured written report — not a generic checklist. Every recommendation is specific to your data, your platform, and your operational context.

  • Data source inventoryCoverage of up to 5 data sources or workflows — formats, origins, update frequency, and gaps.
  • Quality assessment matrixCompleteness, consistency, accuracy, and fitness-for-purpose scored for each source.
  • Pipeline gap analysisWhere data breaks between collection, processing, and use — and why.
  • Prioritized recommendationsRanked list of actions, from quick wins to structural changes, with effort estimates.
  • Platform readiness verdictCan your data support the GIS platform, dashboard, or tool you’re planning to use?
  • Briefing call30-minute walkthrough of findings with your technical lead or project manager.
How it works

Fixed process, no surprises

The assessment follows a defined methodology. You share access to data samples and answer a structured intake questionnaire — we handle the analysis.

1

Intake & scoping call (30 min)

We confirm scope, identify your 5 data sources or workflows, and agree on access logistics.

2

Data access & structured questionnaire

You provide sample data (we work with anonymized or real files — your choice) and complete a short intake form about your workflows and goals.

3

Analysis (1–2 weeks)

We audit your data against the assessment framework — coordinate systems, schema quality, pipeline integrity, and platform alignment.

4

Report delivery

Structured written report delivered as a PDF and shared document. Findings are organized by data source with an executive summary up front.

5

Briefing call (30 min)

We walk through findings with your team, answer questions, and agree on any follow-on priorities.

Investment

Fixed fee, no scope creep

The readiness assessment is priced as a fixed-scope engagement. You know exactly what you’re getting and what it costs before work begins.

From €2,500

Final fee confirmed at scoping call based on data complexity. Most engagements fall between €2,500 and €4,000.

  • Up to 5 data sources or workflows
  • Full written assessment report (PDF + shared doc)
  • Quality scoring matrix for each source
  • Prioritized recommendations with effort estimates
  • Intake call + briefing call (30 min each)
  • Delivered within 2–3 weeks of scoping confirmation
Common questions

Before you reach out

What kinds of data do you assess?

Any geospatial data — shapefiles, GeoJSON, rasters, field survey exports, GPS tracks, remote sensing outputs, or data exported from GIS platforms. If it has a spatial component, we can assess it.

Do I need to share raw data with you?

We can work with anonymized samples, aggregated extracts, or synthetic stand-ins if your data is sensitive. We’ll agree on a data sharing approach during the scoping call.

What if I have more than 5 data sources?

We scope to the 5 most critical during the intake call. Additional sources can be added at an agreed per-source rate, or addressed in a follow-on engagement.

Do you work with Caribbean organisations specifically?

Yes. SSCAR is based in the Caribbean and our work is designed for the data environments common across SIDS — variable quality field data, limited infrastructure, and complex multi-agency workflows.

What happens after the report?

The report stands alone — you can act on the recommendations with your own team. If you’d like ongoing support implementing the changes, we offer a Monitoring QA Retainer for exactly that.
